Hobo spider
The hobo spider is a brown spider with V-shaped stripes on its back end that point towards its head. It builds a flat web like a little trampoline with a funnel at one side. It waits at the narrow end of the funnel for insects to stumble onto its web.

In Europe it usually stays out of houses, because the bigger giant house spider lives there.
It lays its eggs in September, and the babies hatch the next spring.
It probably reached a small island between Denmark and Sweden by riding on trains.
Its genus name Eratigena is made by mixing up the letters of its old name, Tegenaria.
