Emperor dragonfly

Name means: “the emperor lord”

The emperor dragonfly is one of the biggest dragonflies in Europe. The male is bright blue and green and flies up and down his pond all day like a little helicopter on patrol. He hardly ever lands, and even eats his lunch while flying.

Harmless. Dragonflies have no sting. A big one may nip if you hold it in your hand, so just watch it fly.
What does it eat?
It catches flies, mosquitoes, butterflies and even smaller dragonflies in the air. Its babies live under water and hunt tadpoles and small fish.
